The Temple Theatre

The Saginaw Choral Society opens their 2016-2017 season with “Dancing In The Moonlight” on Friday, October 15th at the Temple Theatre. The SCS will be singing the music of Carly Simon, Jim Croce, Queen and other favorite singer-songwriters. You will also hear completely new and original tunes by one of Saginaw’s most beloved jazz pianists, Mike Brush and up and coming performer, Madalyn McHugh! A conversation with Music Director, Jeremiah Kraniak and craft beer tastings will precede the concert in the Temple Theatre’s Leopard Lounge.

Jeremiah Kraniak, music director, says “Our 81st season, “In Our Own Backyard” is about collaboration and highlighting some of the terrific talent in our region. This concert is filled with great music that has proven to speak to us for decades. Our two guest artists also show us how generations of tremendous talent have come from right here in the Great Lakes Bay Region”

Mike Brush is most recognized as a jazz and blues pianist, music educator, and composer. His fifty-year musical history extends back to the garage band era band, “the Paupers” and has continued to his current group, “Brush Street featuring Julie Mulady”. He has devoted his talents to many personal, educational, collaborative, and community-centered creative projects over the years.

Recording artist, Madalyn McHugh from Caro Michigan, currently attends Saginaw Valley State University where she is pursuing a career in Classical Music. Madalyn is a highly sought after musician who recorded her first CD at one of Nashville Tennessee’s most prestigious studios, Darkhorse, in 2010. Following her CD release Madalyn spent a year touring her home state at a variety of festivals, concerts, and special events. Madeline says,

“As a student pursuing a career in music, being a member of the Saginaw Choral Society has been an incredibly valuable experience for me! I was drawn to the SCS because of its strength in versatile music and performance under the direction of Jeremiah. In this concert, I have the opportunity to express my love of songwriting as well as sing alongside top-notch musicians. To me, that is a night well spent! I am thankful to be a member of SCS!”

Dancing in the Moonlight is presented as part of the Saginaw Choral Societies 81st season “In Our Own Backyard” and is made possible by support from Garber Automotive, The Jury Foundation, the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
